The icons
This collection of icons are souvenirs from many summer holidays along the Greek coast.
The contemporary wooden panels are a nod to the classical Greek icons and serve as a celebration of femininity. Captured in pencil and paint on wood, combined with the pale pastel tones of the Greek shoreline.

De Icoontjes
Deze collectie iconen zijn souvenirtjes van vele zomervakanties langs de Griekse kust.
​
De eigentijdse houten panelen zijn een knipoog naar de klassieke Griekse iconen en dienen als een viering van vrouwelijkheid. Vastgelegd in potlood en verf op hout. Een combinatie van bleke pastelkleuren van de Griekse kust.

Blow ups
​
In addition to the icons, I have started a second series of ‘Blow ups’. Enlarged versions of the small icons, printed on beautifully soft chiffon. Intended as wall hangings, but they also look stunning in a doorway or hanging freely. The fabric is so light that the wind dances playfully through it, rippling like the sea.

​Naast de icoontjes ben ik gestart met een tweede serie ‘Blow up’s’. Vergrote versies van de kleine iconen, geprint op prachtig soepele chiffon. Bedoeld als wandkleed, maar ze komen ook schitterend tot hun recht in een deuropening of loshangend. De stof is zo licht dat de wind er speels doorheen danst, en golft als de zee.

Simone studied visual communication at the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht, Brussels, and Prague.
She currently lives and works as a freelancer, dividing her time between the south of the Netherlands (Maastricht) and southern Greece (West Mani).
